Multilateration with Self-Calibration: Uncertainty Assessment, Experimental Measurements and Monte-Carlo Simulations

Large-volume metrology is essential to many high-value industries and contributes the factories of future. In this context, we have developed a tri-dimensional coordinate measurement system based on multilateration technique with self-calibration. practice, an absolute distance meter, traceable SI metre, shared between four heads by fibre-optic links. From these stations, multiple measurements several target positions are then performed to, at end, determine coordinates targets. The uncertainty has been determined consistent metrological approach it better than 5 µm. However, propagation into measured not trivial task. paper, analytical solution for assessment both targets under scenario self-calibration provided. proposed compared Monte-Carlo simulations experimental measurements: follows that all three approaches well agreed, which suggests model accurate. confidence ellipsoids provided described geometry errors.
